Your questions, answered.

How does Gather help me submit better programmes for acceptance?

NEC requires the contractor to regularly submit revised programmes for acceptance. Many of NEC's procedures rely on a contemporary Accepted Programme to function properly.Programmes must be realistic, practicable and show all the information required, including resourcing. Revisions must show actual progress achieved and its effect upon remaining work.

Gather goes further than recording actuals. The productivity insights from hundreds, to tens of thousands of records, combine to give unmatched productivity insight through our structured analytics.

In other words, by consistently capturing site data and structurally managing it with Gather, you can interrogate and rely on this library of historical insights to write more realistic, practical, informative programmes with a higher chance of acceptance.

How does Gather help me substantiate compensation event quotations?

Gather equips site teams and project offices with structured records that substantiate Defined Cost and align to NEC procedure. Our embedded industry expertise ensures that records are captured, categorised and tagged for easy access, then aggregated in support of compensation events.

Integration with popular contract management solutions, like CEMAR, allows teams to draw on structured site records in substantiating their quotations, with ease. No more looking in site vehicles, spreadsheets, emails and document management systems to find what you need.

NEC favours prospective assessment in the finalisation of change. This avoids late shocks and deals with events as they happen. Change is managed by the people who were there, rather than lawyers later who were never anywhere near the site. The agility and momentum this requires is not achievable without a dedicated record management system.

In assessing the impact of compensation events upon price, contractors must forecast the Defined Cost of work not yet done. With Gather's productivity insights gleaned from actuals to date, teams are provided with a robust starting point.

Where quotations propose a delay to Completion Date, contractors need to include alterations to the Accepted Programme. Often a source of argument, such proposals benefit enormously from being backed by empirically evidenced productivity.

How does Gather help me justify applications for payment?

For cost-based main options (C, D, E, F) and wherever applications for payments have a component of measure, Gather will help get you paid for everything, in full, on time. Every time.

By linking work activities, planned vs actuals, resource allocation and reasons for variance, every shift record contributes to a robust application for payment. Teams can choose to use as little or as much of these features. Deciding to use Gather doesn't need to be disruptive. Start by capturing the basics, then grow into ever-increasing commercial assurance.

Not forgetting NEC's prospective theme, on the cost-based options the Price for Work Done to Date includes a forecast of what will be spent by the next assessment, not this one. Empirically evidenced productivity insights provide a robust starting point for justifying forecasts of what you believe you'll have delivered.

How does Gather help me avoid Disallowed Cost?

By keeping robust records, contractors can avoid falling foul of many of the tests for Disallowed Cost set out in NEC's definition. But the ability to draw upon these records swiftly, granularly and in aggregate, when putting together a payment application is a further challenge.

Imagine having all your Defined Cost substantiated and traceable to individual shift records, aligned to the Schedule of Cost Components and backed with photos, narrative and documentation. With additional links to your contract management systems and programme, Gather will deliver all you need and more.

How does Gather help me win work?

Not just any work, but the right work. Gather insights bring two major advantages to contractors bidding for work.

First, Gather helps you align with your client's contract strategy and demonstrate a commitment to how the client is looking to work. By including Gather in your quality submission, you are effectively making the statement: "I understand how you want the contract to operate and how we are to be paid. We have the systems and capability to deliver this without the traditional pains and arguments."

Secondly, estimators love Gather. SPONS is useful, but whatever you capture using Gather is yours. Gather captures every shift, how it went, where, what the weather was, what time of day and everything to do with productivity – productivity overall, of people, of equipment, material usage and so on. There is no better source of information when bidding for the next project.
